12 Super-Poisonous Animals You Need to Know

Grades 3-6 On splashy two-page spreads, each title in the Super-Incredible Animals series profiles a dozen animals exemplifying a common characteristic. Though some readers might wonder why the animals in 12 Super-Poisonous Animals weren't included in the volume about dangerous animals, they'll still likely be drawn in by the full-color photos of brightly colored toxic creatures. Each spread includes well-reproduced photos, a narrative description of the animal exemplifying the title characteristic, and a few factoid-filled inset boxes. Though each title includes plenty of information about its dozen animals, the focus often strays from the volumes' theme to just general information. Additionally, since none of the entries has an introduction, key concepts, as well as the criteria for selecting each volume's creatures, are sometimes muddy.
